Custom home builder in the Mt. Baker area & Glacier, WA
We're the builder based right here on the mountain — fourteen homes in the recreation area and counting, from Glacier Springs to Snowline.
A builder who lives where you want to build
Kestrel Homes is a custom home builder based at 9989 Mt Baker Hwy in Glacier, WA, in the heart of the Mt. Baker Recreation Area. We've built fourteen vacation homes in the recreation area since 2002 — so we know the lots, the permits, and the weather better than a builder driving up from the valley.
Building on a forested mountain lot isn't like building in town. Snow loads, steep and treed sites, septic and sewer, winter access, and getting materials up the highway all shape what's possible and what it costs. Because we handle every phase in-house — concept, design, permitting, lot clearing and construction — you get one crew that has solved all of it before, and one point of contact who answers the phone.
The Mt. Baker communities we know
If you have a lot in one of these communities — or are looking for one — chances are we've already built nearby.
Glacier & Glacier Springs
The village of Glacier and the wooded Glacier Springs community, minutes from the Mt. Baker Highway and the river.
Snowline & Maple Falls
The Snowline Community on the way up to the ski area, plus Maple Falls — where we've built both contemporary and pond-side chalets.
Mt. Baker Recreation Area
Four-season retreats across the recreation area, built to handle real mountain weather and double as nightly rentals.

Where is Kestrel Homes located?
Kestrel Homes is based at 9989 Mt Baker Hwy in Glacier, WA 98244, in the heart of the Mt. Baker Recreation Area.
Can you build on my lot in Glacier Springs or Snowline?
Yes — the Glacier Springs and Snowline communities are exactly where we work most. We've built contemporary and pond-side chalets in Snowline and custom homes in Glacier Springs, so we know the lots and the local permitting.
Do you handle permits and lot clearing?
Yes. We take projects from the initial concept through design, Whatcom County permitting, lot clearing and turn-key construction — all in-house, so it's one crew and one point of contact.
How many homes have you built in the Mt. Baker area?
Fourteen of the roughly twenty homes we've built since 2002 are in the Mt. Baker Recreation Area, ranging from traditional ski chalets to contemporary retreats.
Can the home double as a vacation rental?
Yes. Many of the homes we build do double duty as a private retreat and an income-producing nightly rental, and several sample homes rent through our partner, Luxury Getaways.
