Custom homes
Concept, design, permitting, lot clearing and turn-key construction — all under one roof, so the team that designs your home is the team that builds it.
Three-quarters of our work over the past two decades has been custom homes — private retreats and income-producing rentals across the Mt. Baker area and the San Juan Islands.
Whatever stage your home is at, the same in-house crew handles it — no subcontractor relay, no markup on every line.
Concept, design, permitting, lot clearing and turn-key construction — all under one roof, so the team that designs your home is the team that builds it.
From a 64-square-foot bump-out to a 3,750-square-foot wing, we add the space you need and tie it seamlessly into the existing home.

Kitchens and bathrooms, plus windows, doors, siding, roofing and fixture upgrades — refreshed to handle mountain weather and years of guests.

Homes built to do double duty — a private weekend basecamp that also earns its keep as a nightly rental when you're back in the city.
Fourteen vacation homes built in the recreation area alone — from traditional ski chalets to contemporary glass-and-timber getaways.

A custom retreat set into the trees of the Glacier Springs community, minutes from the river and the Mt. Baker Highway.

Clean lines and big glass — a contemporary chalet built to frame the snow and the ridgeline beyond.

A pond-side getaway in the Snowline community — a quiet, four-season basecamp for the mountain.

A warm timber home on Welcome Road, built as a true four-season retreat just outside the village of Glacier.

A waterfront custom home that makes the most of its shoreline — built to bring the lake into every room.

Multiple completed island projects, delivered with our own landing craft, crew lodging and transport by air or water.

Many of the homes we build pull double duty: a private getaway to hit the slopes and escape the city, and an income-producing rental the rest of the time. We build with both jobs in mind — durable finishes, easy upkeep and year-round maintenance, and the kind of character guests remember.
Several of our sample properties are available for nightly rental through our partner, Luxury Getaways, so you can stay in a Kestrel-built home before you build your own.
Building on an island means logistics most contractors won't touch. For our San Juan Islands projects we supply our own landing craft, overnight accommodations for our crews, and transportation by air or water — so your remote build runs like any other.

Tell us about your site and what you have in mind. We'll help you understand what it takes to make it real.
